  • Perique Black by FlavourArt

    Concentrate Name: Perique Black
    Manufacturer: FlavourArt
Concentrate Profile: Bitter flavor (On FA, it is listed under Tobacco though)
Steeping required: Yes, it's a must!
    Available here: http://flavourart.com/en/store/flavo...-black-flavor/

Amazingly good concentrate! But unlike other concentrates, this one adds bitterness to your eLiquids. I have tried using this on it's own but ouch! It is better used with other concentrates. Goes unbelievably good with other tobacco concentrates like the Hangsen B&H, Peanut Butter, etc. The sole purpose of this concentrate is to add bitterness. Your DIY eLiquid will be anything but not sweet when you add this concentrate to the mix.

With that said, be very cautious while adding this concentrate to your mixes. Begin with only 0.5% to 1% and vape your mix. If you feel there isn't enough bitterness right now, steeping will do wonders! As you steep your DIY eLiquid made with Perique Black in the mix, the bitterness will go higher and higher and higher. So add only that much that you can just feel a pinch of bitterness. Keep your eliquid for steeping and check after a couple of weeks. Then vape you would know how strong this concentrate is

I use this concentrate for many different flavors. One excellent DIY eLiquid that I was successful in making using this concentrate is here: http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/2...Ashtray+Licker

A few folks in the community have vaped samples of the Ashtray Licker eLiquid and you know what Perique Black does to the mix, right?

    Thanks for the recipe bhai.
BTW, perique , as a tobacco is supposed to add a spicy note - not talking about this particular flavour, but about the tobacco which is used in mixes for pipe tobacco.

Hmm that's interesting bro. I didn't really feel any spicy notes with the Perique Black .. All I've felt so far is the bitter taste ..

        Re: Perique Black by FlavourArt

The perique used in pipe tobaccos now is the less expensive Acadian Perique, consisting of Kentucky Green River Burley (from various states) that is processed in the same manner as perique and blended with St. James grown tobacco. The Acadian perique is made by L.A. Poche. Although the process produces a strong, spicy tobacco, it is a different product from the original straight St. James perique grown on the Martin and Poche family farms. Apparently only a few barrels of the original perique is grown now, so the kentucky burly which is treated like perique is what is now mostly used

AndyK Andy bhai re-opening an old thread. I'm looking to get into DIY and wanted to know what would you recommend for cig-like bitterness. Perique black or Inawera DNB. I saw your posts and thanks a ton for the detailed Inawera reviews. While I'm kinda weaned off the bitter tobacco cigarette taste (moved to mild and pipe like tobacco tastes) I would like to make a liquid that retains this ashy chemical taste that can help cigarette smokers migrate as my Uncle is a 40 year+smoker and still can't completely quit after recent health issues. Any input will be greatly appreciated as always. (I'm aware from more threads you probably don't vape tobacco flavours anymore but your experience will help out here)
Thanks again for everything you do for the community.

Avi bhai, the thing is, you cannot really replicate the taste of ciggies with vaping. That's good and perhaps bad at the same time. Good in the sense, once you get accustomed to different flavors in vaping, you can't really go back to stinkies. But at the same time, a few smokers would walk away because they cannot replicate the experience 100%.

I have tried many different tobacco flavors but nothing ever came even close to the taste and feel of a stinkie (in the longer run, I feel good about that). The only thing that helped was Inawera's Perique Black. It added a different type of bitterness or sourness (you can add a little of Perique Black to any tobacco flavored eLiquid. A few drops will suffice, like, 5 drops in 10ml), so I guess it is somewhat "different" from all that sweetness in vaping. I do get sick of all the sweet stuff at times and that's when I use a little perique black. It has been probably a year though, haven't used it.

If you are really looking for that ciggie type bitterness/sourness/taste, would suggest you to try NET (Naturally Extracted Tobacco) stuff. There are many good companies out there that offer NETs. I have thought about NETs many time but never cared to try because I really don't wish to have that stinkie smell, don't think I would be able to tolerate it anymore. But for a new convert or for a smoker who might convert to vaping, NETs might be pretty helpful.

                              Andy Bhai,

Many thanks for such a detailed reply. Totally understand the smoking non replication bit. For me I started hating the taste of cigarettes as I got into pipes and cigars and for the last few months before switching to vaping was smoking ice/menthol cigarettes to avoid the cig taste while getting the nic hit. The questions about adding some bitterness ashiness were mainly for the DIY juice I'm making for my uncle and will surely get some perique black to add to his stuff. Regarding NET I have followed the NET thread over at e-cigarette forum over many posts and am making several myself through simple cold maceration in PG followed by 1 micron filtration. As I smoke pipes and cigars occasionally the best pipe tobacco costs around 2-5 usd for 30 gm which is enough to make a really strong 100 ml extract. I generally order from smokingpipes.com and use USPS Super Saver International. Never faced any customs problems as long as order is below 50-60 usd (And that's a lot of pipe tobacco). Basically a good NET from pipe tobacco will give you all the glorious aromas as flavours while vaping (smells totally different from the chemical cigarette smell or the very pungent hay and barnyard cigar smell, though cigars also smell great to tobacco lovers). Would like to add that pipes and cigars are totally different from cigarettes (as many of you must know already) and aren't inhaled as they are too strong, additionally pipe and cigar tobacco generally has no chemical additives (zero) in comparison to cigarettes (which have thousands of toxic and cancerous chemicals as we know). Pipe smoking in particular is quite delicious and still has a huge range of tobaccos available for order here. Looking forward to getting deeper in my NET DIY journey. So far the NET's from pipe tobacco I have extracted have turned out to be quite delicious most are still steeping. Had restricted myself to INA tobacco flavours based on your posts and found them to be pretty good at 3-5%
Thanks again for the information on Perique really hope it works for my uncle. I tried all the lemon cookie cake dough cheesecake cola fruit flavours etc but just didn't cut it for me. Coffee was good but I prefer a tobacco flavoured vape with a good cup of coffee, hence went down the NET DIY route.

                              Best,
                              Avi
